Bun dé - that's how the small village of La Val, 1.348 m a.s.l. high, welcomes you. This is surrounded by the mountain covered with snow beauties, as the Sass de Putia, the Fanis Group, the Santa Croce's tour, Peaks Nine and Ten. La Val is one of the five municipal districts in Badia Valley.
Much importance is given to languages, to
tradition, to customs and to culture and locals show this particular aspect with pride, through different
events. Tyrolean evenings, cultural events, parades and local choir concerts take regularly place during the year.
The greatest number of Ladin speakers in South Tyrol is right here, in La Val. A proof of a strong bond and good cohabitation.
In winter, the closeness of the Dolomiti Superski skiing area makes La Val a perfect starting point for many tours and trips, among which the famous Sellaronda, which connects all the four Ladin Valleys. 1.200 km of well-prepared slopes invite you to descend the famous Ski World Cup slope Gran Risa, which is an obligatory stop for ski lovers. Do you want to avoid using the car during your stay? No problem.
Buses travel daily for the whole Alta Badia ski resort.
A good alternative to skiing are the excursions on foot in the untouched and peaceful landscapes. Without forgetting the
natural sleight trails. For young and adults, fun and entertainment are here an integral part of the program. In summer, they offer different
excursions and
bike tours in the most beautiful mountain places and huts around La Val and Alta Badia. Pure active holiday.
Worth visiting are the natural park Fanes- Senes- Braies, with the natural habitats of the Rit and the Armentarola fields with its impressive and protected flora and fauna. During the various daily excursions, you could see in every moment deer while browsing or the grouse while courting. Also the parish church St. Genesio, the St. Barbara Chapel, only an hour on foot from the village centre, and the further chapels settled along the paths in a classic rural landscape are worth a visit. Furthermore, in the farms you can experience on your own skin all the aspects of rural life.
An important economical branch of the village is handicraft, for farmers used to reinvent themselves as artisans during the winter months, a fact proofed by the productions of cords and wool. After a day rich with experiences the many
restaurants in La Val and in Alta Badia invite you to taste a dinner made of local delicacies. Taste the famous canederli, the spinach half-moon ravioli and many other Ladin specialities.
Let's get spoiled is the
hotels, in the
boarding houses, in the
B&Bs, in the
holiday apartments and in the farms with specialities of their own production and allow yourself a couple of days made of total relax.
